The Physiology club will sponsor our spring blood drive Tuesday, April 15th. You can give your money to the government and your blood all on the same day! We will be collecting in C villa commons from 8:00 - 2:30. Over 200 students and about 20 staff are expected to donate.

Congratulations to Electronics Academy seniors Jonathan Torres, Ken Leung, and Fritz Defense for receiving gold medals and State Assembly recognition for participating in the STRUT computer competition at Mission College. The Independence Electronics Academy had a total five participating teams at the 8th annual STRUT competition and received gold, silver, and bronze medals for their participation.

Congrats to the IHS Marching Band!

On Saturday, November 17, 2007, the Band competed against 17 other bands from across California in Division AA. Independence was crowned Division AA Champions for the second straight year! By winning their Division, the Band earned a spot in the combined competition on Sunday . Competing against Bands representing A, AA, and AAA Divisions, the Marching Band placed 5th in the overall competition on Sunday, which ranks them 5th in the WBA circuit for all A, AA, and AAA Bands.

In an effort to raise funds for the production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the IHS Performing Arts Department is working together with Barnes & Noble Booksellers by hosting a Bookfair at the Eastridge Mall store.


On Saturday, November 10, Barnes & Noble will donate a percentage of every sale made with a special bookfair voucher to IHS Performing Arts Department! Vouchers will be available in every villa or the Theatre office.


The Barnes & Noble Bookfair will help IHS Performing Arts Department with a percentage of bookfair sales (including books, CDs, DVDs, Magazines, office supplies) that will underwrite A Midsummer Night’s Dream.


IHS Performing Arts Department event and program will be held at Barnes & Noble on November 10, 2007 at 1:00 pm. This event includes a performance of a scene from their production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
